Cam Shaft Position Sensor Setback Part II

Fewer things are more character building then breaking down on the side of the road.

If you are a girl like me, you cry, and curse words you never knew you knew flow from your tongue. There are the moments of prayer laced with the moments of 'are you fucking kidding me God'!

So the part is in and I start out of my driveway without a hitch. Then right at the other little gray house on D Highland Rd, the one with the oodles of roaming chickens, all the gears drop their momentum and I find I am doing nothing more then coasting down the hill...so I seek the best shoulder to cry on.

Seriously. The part is in. It is 22 miles away. I am on my way to get it. I am here on the side of D Highland Rd while my ship is docking 22 miles away. It is like freaking Groundhogs Day.

I am a good person. I take care of my family. I love dogs and kids. I pay my bills and only eat fast food when I am depressed about being stuck on the side of the road. I don't understand the pattern; the relentlessness of life keeping me stranded on the side of the road.

I feel Montana slipping away and no chance at all for the Pacific.

The tow truck arrives. It is Tracey Morgan without the comedic timing. I am struck by his insanely clean Dickies and his road map bloodshot eyes and see the connection between him and the Speedy Mechanic who recommended him. I see my baby KIA jolt and load.

Now I sit at the only little gray house that matters and I continue to pack. I rearrange the bags and dog food container and tub of CDs and books by the door 18 or so times. I don't think they will ever leave this house; but I hope.

Recipes: Eat something! Don't just go straight for the Bourbon just because you got stranded on the side of the road today.

Roadtrips: The closer you are to home the more frustrating it is to break down.

Renovations: Sometimes, you REALLY have to suck it up!

  1. Just so you know: In the Land of Allison, "Are you fucking kidding me, God?" *is* a prayer.

    Keep going. You'll get there.
